New community radio station launches from undisclosed location
A new online community radio station is launching this month from an undisclosed Bristol location, aiming to showcase the city’s diverse dance music soundscape.
Workshop Radio opens its gates with a launch party at the studio for artists and associates, all of which will be livestreamed via the station’s Mixcloud.
The station is currently helmed by a duo who both come from previous endeavours in the Bristol club space – one from a separate community radio in the city, and the other from the Bristol pop-up party scene, creating immersive “installation parties” using impressive lighting and sound setups.
is needed now More than ever
The festivities kick off around 2pm on January 13 with an hour of tunes from the station owners and residents, before the DJs descend onto the studio for an eight hour sonic journey through Bristol.
Expect a range of styles and flavours: everything from the left field percussive sounds of new promotions outfit LAYA/TALA, whose diverse parties platforming DJs from underrepresented backgrounds have been taking the city by storm of late, all the way to the always on point vinyl selections of Misscoteque’s DJ Ammi, as she teams up with K-to as part of new queer collective Baxu.
The lineup for the day looks to be focusing on shining a light on quality up and coming Bristol artists, all of whom have something unique to bring to the table. Here’s the lineup:
