Preview: Hospitality Bristol, Motion

By Erin MacDermott  Friday Jan 17, 2020

Having garnered a reputation the last few years for multi-room sell-out shows and international festivals, it’s a testament to how far the Hospital brand has come that a sold-out event in Motion’s main room is advertised by the Hospitality social media team as an “intimate affair”.

However, this intimate instalment also promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the 2020 drum and bass calendar in Bristol, from label veterans Metrik and Nu:Logic ready to deliver that signature euphoric dancefloor Hospital sound, to a sumptuous back to back pairing of Fred V and Etherwood showcasing the more melodic and soulful side to the label – not to mention one of the most in-demand acts in the scene in Kings of the Rollers headlining an already star-studded roster.

The Three Kings behind the decks have had a meteoric rise the last couple of years, with an uncanny ability of turning almost everything they touch to gold – from their immense eponymous album released on Hospital last year, to their rambunctious “Royal Rumble” event series. Their dynamic
and energetic frontman Inja, whose ability to control and hype a crowd is second-to-none, will ensure they come bearing gifts of more than just Myrrh-ky rollers to the Bristol crowd.

Never ones to shy away from promoting the full spectrum of drum and bass, Hospital are also flying Austrian neurofunk-ninja and bass-heavyweight Mefjus all the way to Bristol for a rare Hospitality performance. Elsewhere, recent Hospital signings and two of the scene’s fastest rising talents Unglued and Degs will have their first opportunity to perform their new single Levitate Your Mind together, since being released on the label in early January.

Hospitality has an expectation across Bristol and the rest of the UK for consistently putting on showstopping events of unrivalled quality, and this upcoming February instalment will undoubtedly only go further in strengthening this reputation.
