Bristol Beacon to host the 2024 comedy fundraiser for Bristol Mind
With Blue Monday – the most depressing day of the year – once more around the corner, Bristol Mind are bringing back their annual comedy fundraiser, this time at Bristol Beacon’s Lantern Room.
Comedian, podcaster, mental health and climate change speaker Stuart Goldsmith returns to host the night, which will be raising both laughs, and money for essential mental healthcare and wellbeing services in the region.
“Laughter has been scientifically proven to triger the release of endorphins (your happy hormone), reduce stress-making hormones and to ease anxiety and tension,” organisers say.
is needed now More than ever
“It has also been suggested that laughing can improve your immune system and lift your mood.
“Bristol Mind is focusing on the importance and power of laughter as a tool to improve our mental health.”
The bill, curated by Goldsmith, features Sikisa, a three-time Leicester Festival Aware nominee who has also reached the final of the BBC New Comedy Award, and is a fast-rising star of UK comedy.

She is joined by UK-based American standup Janine Harouni, who is acclaimed by critics and comics alike, and most recently took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm while eight and a half months pregnant.
Daman Bamrah, an up-and-coming act who has supported stellar acts including Mo Gilligan, Jamali Maddix and Ria Lina, also appears.
And completing the night, Alison Spittle is confirmed, a multi-faceted award-winning comic and podcaster who has also been widely praised for her work to destigmatise mental health.

“I’ve curated such an amazing lineup of comics from the UK circuit,” says Goldsmith.
“In fact there’s a real danger we’re going to go past positive mental health and back round into crisis mode.”
All ticket proceeds go to Bristol Mind.
