Bristol standup Jayde Adams taking to Strictly dance floor
Only a few weeks ago Jayde Adams was embarking from a boat with fellow actor Joe Sims to launch the 50th anniversary of Bristol Harbour Festival.
Now it has been announced the comedian and presenter will be swapping standup for Strictly Come Dancing as she is set to take to the dancefloor for the 2022 BBC series.
The actor, singer, comic and writer from Bedminster is the fifth celebrity contestant to be announced ahead of the show’s return this autumn.
is needed now More than ever
Jayde has spent the last two decades carving out a meteoric career in the entertainment industry- taking her from the stages of Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the screens of Comedy Central, Netflix and more.
Announcing the Strictly news on Saturday, she said: “Since I watched the first series in 2004, I feel like every step I’ve taken in my career over the last 11 years was to be on Strictly. I cannot begin to express the emotions I am feeling, this means so much to me and my family.
“I’ve always watched it, apart from a brief hiatus in 2011 as I was relentlessly gigging every weekend (to try and get on Strictly). I’ve been a massive fan of the show for years. I feel like I’m watching myself in a dream and I can’t believe I’ve manifested this. Holding this in has been torture for me!”
