Bristolians flock to buy tickets for the return of Bristol Comedy Garden

By Sarski Anderson  Friday May 5, 2023

Bristol Comedy Garden has announced individual lineups for its return to Queen Square this summer, following two years of open-air events on the Downs.

From 14-18 June, eight shows will be taking place under the big top, each with an MC and four acts on the bill.

It’s a chance to see some of the biggest stars in UK comedy under one roof, as well as frequenting the street food and drink vendors dotted around the historic square.

Wednesday sees Taskmaster favourites Phil Wang and Fern Brady, Josh Pugh, Isy Suttie and Bristol royalty Jayde Adams take to the stage.

Another Bristol-born star, John Robins, is the host of two shows, joined on the Thursday bill by Nish Kumar, Tim Key, Ania Magliano and Ivo Graham, and then on Friday by David O’Doherty, Bridget Christie, Celya AB and Ray Badran.

On Saturday there are three separate shows taking place. Josh Jones is compere for Sara Pascoe, Sophie Duker, Morgan Rees and Rosie Jones; local legend Mark Olver hosts Alan Davies, Rachel Parris, Tadiwa Mahlunge and Rich Hall; and Thanyia Moore is MC for Jack Dee, Nina Conti, Daniel Foxx and Chris McCausland.

Rounding off the weekend, Kiri Pritchard-McLean hosts the Sunday afternoon lineup of Dylan Moran, Mark Watson, Sharon Wanjohi and Amy Gledhill, before Chloe Petts takes the final show home, featuring Ed Gamble, Lou Sanders, Kyrah Gray and Rhys James.

At the time of writing, the festival is close to selling out, with limited tickets available for the early Saturday show.

Bristol Comedy Garden presented by heycar returns to Queen Square from June 14 to 18. For tickets and more information, visit www.bristolcomedygarden.co.uk.
