Mike Williams and Benjamin Partridge to co-headline live radio listening event at The Cube

By Sarski Anderson  Monday Aug 15, 2022

For over 12 years, the group of radio and audio producers and enthusiasts coming together to form In the Dark have been commissioning and staging live listening events for spoken word audio.

They have successfully hosted events at venues ranging from festivals to museums and theatres in the UK, Portugal, Belgium, Germany and Australia.

Described as “a bit like cinema, but without the pictures”, they are aiming to create “a mini revolution” in creative audio storytelling by “lifting it out of traditional settings and celebrating it in new and exciting ways”.

On September 1, ITD presents an evening at The Cube, featuring co-headliners: Mike Williams, and Benjamin Partridge.

Williams is a well-known Australian documentarian, podcaster and former radio producer, who cut his teeth on ABC’s Triple J radio.

As well as ambitious podcast projects including an attempt to record 100 interviews in 24 hours, his irreverant stories about his national culture have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, CBC, BBC World Service and NPR, and featured in The Guardian.

At The Cube, Williams will be sharing an investigation into missing forks, “as well as some other stories that are not related to forks”.

Having visited Berlin and Dublin in the run-up to Bristol, his Who Gives A Fork? tour then moves to Stockholm, Ghent, Bern and London before heading back down under.

Partridge is a comedy writer, performer, producer and the man behind the acclaimed Beef and Dairy Network Podcast, which won Gold – Best Comedy at the British Podcast Awards in both 2017 and 2018.

He is also one third of the comedy podcast Three Bean Salad, which he hosts along with fellow comics Henry Paker and Mike Wozniak.

For the ITD event, Partridge will be presenting a special documentary about former Bovine Farmers’ Union bursar Parsnip Flendercroft, for Beef and Dairy.
