New sober comedy night encourages audiences to dress in their pyjamas
Bristol’s thriving stand-up scene is no secret, with numerous gigs to choose from on any given day of the week.
However, to date, the landscape has not included a sober night. Class Act Comedy are changing that, with the establishment of Pyjama Party, a new regular night of “comfy comedy” to be held at various venues within Bristol and the region.
Organiser Steph Weeks visualised the gig as a chance to offer stand-up fans a fun night out without it being centred around having a drink; suitable not only for people who struggle with alcohol, but also for those who want a break from it.

Lineups will feature local talent and an MC and headliner for each event – all of whom will be encouraged to join the audience in coming in their pyjamas or onesies.
The first event is at Café Kino on December 2, hosted by Dani Johns and featuring comics including Greg Curzon, Millie Malone and June Tuesday, headlined by Alex Mason.

“It will be like watching Live at the Apollo at home with a cuppa, except you are out with friends socialising”, says Weeks. “There is something about watching live comedy which elevates the enjoyment and the laughter, so it really does feel like it’s the best of both worlds.
“I thought the pyjama party theme was a bit daft to begin with but I have been overwhelmed with the interest and support by venues, acts and potential audience members. Good old Bristol – always on board for anything a little different!”
