What The Frock celebrates first birthday
Bristol’s women-only comedy night What The Frock is celebrating its first birthday this weekend with three events.
Following last night’s stand-up show at regular haunt the Square Club, today sees a panel session at the Watershed asking why women are funny, and a comedy showcase at the Arnolfini hosted by Luisa Omielan and featuring Tiffany Stevenson and Bethany Black.
“We’re very excited to have reached this important milestone and to have achieved so much in such a short space of time – playing to 700 people at the Royal Festival Hall, a profile on BBC Woman’s Hour, notching up 10 comedy nights (and every one a sell-out), raising more than £500 for local charities, and much more,” says What The Frock founder Jane Duffus.
is needed now More than ever
“What The Frock has very much proved its initial points – that there are a lot of funny women out there, and there are people who repeatedly want to pay to come and see them.
“So we’re continuing to grow and find new ways to support female comedy talent.”
