What the Frock! Newcomer Award: entries open

By Steve Wright  Friday Jan 23, 2015

Returning for its third year, the What The Frock! Comedy Newcomer Award celebrates up-and-coming female talent on the UK comedy circuit. The inaugural 2013 award was won by Bethan Roberts and in 2014 by Dotty Winters (pictured) – both of whom have had continued support from WTF! as their careers have taken off. The WTF! award is one of only two in the UK aimed specifically at female entrants – and is the south-west’s only all-female competition.

So, fancy entering? The competition is open to all female comedians who have been performing comedy (paid and/or unpaid) for up to three years. Each successful entrant to the competition will be invited to Bristol to perform a set (maximum five minutes) on Friday April 24. Taking place at WTF!’s regular home, Riproar Comedy, the evening will be hosted by Cerys Nelmes and will also feature 2013 winner Roberts.
