Celebrating All Things Dance at The Mount Without

By Sarski Anderson  Wednesday Mar 15, 2023

Supported by Bristol City Council, Arts Council England and Bristol Dance Futures, with support in kind from Impermanence, the dance networking event All Things Dance returns on March 29 with a varied programme at The Mount Without.

The day will be hosted by the Bristol dance charity Movema and the Diverse Artists Network in collaboration with independent dancers and local dance organisations.

“Last year’s event was very well received by the dance community in Bristol,” says Penny Caffrey, director of Movema.

“The feedback was that an annual event providing a forum to come together and discuss the issues that face the dance community in Bristol, would be really valuable.”

With a particular emphasis on diversity, All Things Dance will provide an opportunity for dance practitioners to bring people together in myriad ways through a shared love of the art form, supporting and celebrating dance within Bristol.

The afternoon session will feature workshops and breakout groups in which funding, sustainability, programming and other pressing issues facing the local dance community can be more thoroughly explored.

Dancers Lerato Stanley-Dunn, Latisha Cesar and Jan-Ming Lee will be among the contributors, alongside representatives from Bristol City Council and West of England Combined Authorities, Arts Council England, The Trinity Centre, and Impermanence.

For dance fans who are tempted to get up and join in, there will be taster workshops, and the night will end with a community dance jam led by Lottie Ball and the Body Language project.
