Robots and dance collide in immersive performance experience
A dance company has collaborated with Bristol Robotics Lab for a show which is having its world premiere in Bristol.
Robots will interact with audiences sat in the performance area using the latest in artificial intelligence (AI) robotic technology in Prehension Blooms from Swindon’s Neon Dance.
Specially made swarm robots built by the team at Bristol Robotics Lab will form part of “a weave of dance and movement” between robots (known as hōki-mon), dancers and audience.
is needed now More than ever
Choreographer and director Adrienne Hart said: “Prehension Blooms explores the nature of companionship and loneliness through the dance of human performers alongside robotic hōki-mon.
“Audiences both present in the space and joining from their homes across the world will be able to interact with the robots whilst experiencing world class performers up close.”
Prehension Blooms is at the Bristol Beacon foyer from September 28 to October 2. For tickets and more information, visit www.bristolbeacon.org/whats-on/prehension-blooms
