Bristolians invited to help shape the future of The Tabernacle in Kingswood
Based in St Anne’s House, Brislington, Bricks Bristol is a social enterprise whose mission is “to support local and creative communities to thrive in Bristol”.
Their recent projects have ranged from public art commissions at the Moxy Bristol hotel and Trinity Academy, to engagement workshops for young people across the city.
Working in conjunction with The Whitfield Tabernacle Trust, who are working hard to restore the Grade I listed Tabernacle in Kingswood, Bricks’ newest project is to create a vision and business plan to map out the future vision for the space.
is needed now More than ever
Designed to be a creative hub in the heart of BS15, there is lot that the resurrected building could offer once it reopens in 2024.
From hosting art and artists, authors and book groups, to live music, theatre, comedy, dance and circus; showcasing films, offering freelancers workspace and creative commuities the space to meet – there is an abundance of opportunity to explore.
Bricks Bristol are enlisting the help of the local community to garner their opinions and ideas.
They have designed an online survey on the future of The Tabernacle, and are asking people to have their say in shaping a space which is likely to play a key role in the regeneration of Kingwood’s High Street.
The team has been out in Kingswood handing out physical copies of the survey to local businesses, as well as placing a lock box in Kingswood Library for residents to contribute their ideas.
“It’s great to hear from local residents to understand what spaces and activities they want to see, and help shape future use,” says Bricks director, Jack Gibbon.
“The most important thing is that this is useful to the people of Kingswood and that it responds to local ambition.”
