Comedian Jayde Adams to star in ITV’s new Bristol-based series
Jayde Adams, the – deep breath – comedian, actress, singer, writer and proud Bristolian, is now starring in and co-creating a new ITV series due to come out next year.
It seems Jayde Adams is having a moment, after the announcement earlier in August that she would also be competing in the highly anticipated 2022 season of Strictly Come Dancing.
The new series, Ruby Speaking, which is due to air on ITVX in 2023, will see the comedian look back at her own life as she recreates her experience working at a call centre.
is needed now More than ever
The comedy series, which is filmed in Bristol, will follow Jayde’s character – Ruby – as she deals with her own misfortunes while also navigating other people’s issues, often putting them before her own job.

The show will also be directed by Bristol-based Rosie Gaunt-Mathieson (Just Delivered, 2020) and written by Abigail Wilson (Ten Percent, 2022).
Jayde is no stranger to the entertainment industry, having begun stand up comedy in 2011. Since then, the Edingburgh Fringe regular has starred in BBC Two’s BAFTA-winning, Alma’s Not Normal, BBC One’s, The Outlaws and Amazon Prime’s, Good Omens.
Serious Black Jumper, Jayde’s 2020 Amazon Prime Special, received global critical acclaim and was long-listed for an Emmy.
Despite the multi-award-winning comedian moving to Wales for university and travelling the country for various shows, Jayde always stays close to her Bristol roots.
Her BBC documentary, My Hometown: Jayde Adams Coming Home, sees Jayde meet the key people who helped her navigate her young years and takes audiences back to her working-class background in south Bristol.
Ruby Speaking will premiere on ITVX in 2023.
