Bristol’s Vanessa Kisuule named Glastonbury Festival’s official website poet
Vanessa Kisuule has won more than ten slam titles, is Bristol’s city poet 2018 to 2020 and has represented the UK in two European Slam Championships.
Vanessa can now add another critical acclaim to her name as she has been announced as Glastonbury Festival’s official website poet in residence for 2019, and her first piece of poetry, Revenge of the Abandoned Tents, has been released on the website.
Vanessa has previously featured on several BBC shows, The Guilty Feminist Podcast, TEDx and in The Guardian, as well as performing at an array of renowned poetry events and venues, such as The Royal Albert Hall, The British Library and at Blahblahblah at the Bristol Old Vic.

The Glastonbury Festival website will post Vanessa’s work throughout this year’s festival, and you can read her first contribution, Revenge of the Abandoned Tents.
Vanessa also has two poetry collections: Joyriding The Storm and A Recipe for Sorcery, both published by Burning Eye. Her work was also Highly Commended in The Forward Prize Anthology 2019.
She will be performing in the Poetry&Words tent at 4.05pm on Sunday, June 30 at Glastonbury Festival.
