Preview: Wilderness Festival 2019

By Daniel Nixon  Wednesday Jul 24, 2019

Amongst the ancient forests of Oxfordshire, Wilderness Festival invites you to dive into the exuberance that is Season Nine: A jubilant celebration of life and all its quirky splendour.

Hitting the scene back in 2011, the festival immediately took home the MAMA & CompanyUK festival award for ‘Best New Festival’ – with its vast array of festive splendour, it’s very easy to see why. An all-welcoming approach to dress-up and personal expression takes this 4-day party to the realms of Shambala and Secret Garden Party. This year’s dress themes have already presented themselves as “What comes naturally..” on Friday, “How hue are you?” on Saturday and “The great big hats off” on Sunday.

Cornbury Park, host to Wilderness Festival, is also home to two rather impressive lakes: the magical Lake Majestic and the mighty Lake Wilderness. Should the sun shine greatly on this years affairs, you can bet your party boots that the lakesides and cool waters will be full of likeminded souls searching for liquid salvation.

Headlining this year, you will find the likes of Robyn, Groove Armada, Tom Odell and Bombay Bicycle Club who will be celebrating 10 years since the launch of their first album. Heading up a shortlist of gigs for a small UK tour; no doubt they will want to headline with a heavy mix of their first album.

This year’s Wilderness Festival is jam-packed with an incredible buffet of artists, acts and entertainment. A world of options awaits – from circus acts to debates, workshops, dance classes, sunrise yoga, horseback riding and even a lakeside spa retreat.

If you act quick, you may still be able to bag yourself a ticket for this years antics. For more information and tickets, visit the Wilderness Festival website: https://www.wildernessfestival.com/tickets/
