Environmentals: a comedy about Bristol’s green activists

By Robin Askew  Saturday Sep 5, 2020

Fed up with endless short films shot by teenagers in their bedrooms during lockdown? Fancy a larf instead? Check out Bristol filmmaker Cris Warren’s new nine-minute short, which has been selected for two comedy film festivals.

Perhaps rather bravely in the week in which Bristol was named once again as the world’s number one vegan city, Environmentals follows the misadventures of local climate change activists Ben (writer Ben Behrens, of BBC Radio 4Extra’s Newsjack) and Alice (Becky Brunning – Broadchurch, A Confession) as they ditch the corpses from their diet after being shamed by militant veggie Charlotte (stage actor Alice Lamb of FullRogue Theatre).

Of course, it’s not compulsory to be entirely humourless if you’re a green warrior and Environmentals certainly had this vegan chuckling. Who hasn’t endured the tiresome ‘loopholes’ conversation? Watch the full film below and form your own opinion.
