Adventure Cinema announces summer 2022 outdoor screening programme
Got anything planned for August yet? It looks as though outdoor cinema will be back with a vengeance this summer and national touring company Adventure Cinema is first to announce its programme.
Those hardy perennials dominate as usual, so if you’re eager to see the likes of Mamma Mia! and The Rocky Horror Picture Show in an outdoor setting once again, you’re in luck. The only new addition is Spielberg’s West Side Story, which has been something of a flop in cinemas but seems tailor-made for the al fresco singalong treatment.
Locally, Adventure Cinema has three venues: Clifton Downs, Clevedon Hall and Dyrham Park in Bath. There’s no sign of the Dyrham Park programme yet. But they’ll be pitching up on the Downs over the weekend of August 5-7. On Friday 5, you can see Mamma! Mia. This is followed on Saturday 6 by West Side Story and Pulp Fiction. Sunday 7 brings Jurassic Park and Rocketman.

Next up on their tour is Clevedon Hall. Here you can see West Side Story (Mon 8), Mamma Mia! (Tue 9) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Wed 10).

“I can’t wait to see ‘Mamma Mia!’ for the 147th time.”
Ticket prices start at £14.50, plus inevitable booking fee. They’re on sale now at the Adventure Cinema website, where you can find out more about the locations, screenings and conditions of entry. For peace of mind, they’re also offering a 100% money-back guarantee if anything untoward happens and the events don’t go ahead. This presumably doesn’t apply if the screenings clash with more compelling alternative entertainments – such as Boris Johnson’s resignation speech or Prince Andrew’s grilling in a US courtroom.
