Petrolheads mow down loquacious toddler as Fast & Furious 8 deposes The Boss Baby after just one week at the top. The seemingly unstoppable car porn franchise has shattered records elsewhere, but not in the UK, where it ranks as Universal’s third biggest opener. The school holidays mean that kiddieflicks dominate the rest of the chart, with Beauty and the Beast now poised to enter the all-time UK top ten. No doubt its coffers will be further boosted by the release of a singalong edition on Friday (see our comprehensive film listings for cinemas and times). Also doing exceptionally well is Chan-wook Park’s hugely enjoyable The Handmaiden. Unusually for a subtitled foreign language film, this saucetastic romp is now being picked up by multiplexes. Locally, you can catch it at the Showcase Cinema De Lux from Friday.
