DC’s Shazam! continued its merry dance with Disney’s Dumbo at the top of the chart by retaking the top spot. But all this is pretty meaningless because the sunny bank holiday meant that people stayed away from cinemas in droves. Not a single film in the top ten took more than £1m. Unsurprisingly, those Easter kidflicks endured the biggest hits. Wonder Park, for example, plummeted from third to seventh place with an eye-watering 63% drop in takings. The new releases fared pretty poorly too. Bollywood period drama Kalank opened ahead of Trevor Nunn’s Judi Dench vehicle Red Joan and Neil Jordan’s Greta. The biggest flop, however, was the Alzheimer’s comedy Head Full of Honey, which took just £8,000. That’s a pitiful £60 per cinema. Insert your own un-woke Alzheimer’s observation here.
