The Boss Baby finally saw off Beauty and the Beast, but Disney isn’t likely to be too worried. Easter is still to come, Emma and her physically challenged chum have hauled in nearly £60m, and the UK’s all-time top ten is well within the film’s sights. Porcine tot pacifier Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience also enjoyed an excellent opening weekend with more than £1m in the, erm, piggy bank. The other new releases stumbled. Codger heist flick Going in Style could only make fifth place, while Table 19 and City of Tiny Lights both failed to chart. Of all the films currently on release, smart horror Get Out displays the strongest staying power and should easily reach £10m. Incidentally, if you’re wondering what happened to Terence Davies’s well-received Emily Dickinson biopic, A Quiet Passion, which took a modest £79,000, it opens belatedly in Bristol this week at the Everyman and Watershed cinemas.
