After last weekend’s glitch, the UK box office finally got back on track, buoyed by our old friend shitty summer weather, with a whopping 107% increase in takings. For the first time since cinemas reopened, the top three films each took more than £100,000. Displacing the most successful post-lockdown release, Unhinged, at the top of the chart, was the 10th anniversary reissue of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. This bodes well for his new one, Tenet, which opens on Wednesday. The well-received makeover of Pinocchio was the most successful new release at number three. Onward, 100% Wolf, Trolls World Tour and the reissue of Jurassic Park each enjoyed an impressive boost in earnings, suggesting that family audiences are driving the return to cinemas.
