The tiddly superheroes of Ant-Man and the Wasp triumphed over the weekend, but this wasn’t much of a victory as good weather meant punters stayed away from cinemas in droves once again. The film’s sub-£5m opening is pretty feeble by Marvel standards, but it could still pick up some momentum if the forecast shitty weekend weather shows up. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again held up strongly at number two, forcing Mission: Impossible – Fallout into third place from last week’s chart-topping position. The Abba jukebox musical sequel is now on the verge of breaking through the £40m barrier, as is Incredibles 2 a little further down the chart.
