In his fourth week in cinemas, Paddington whupped much Daddy arse to regain the top slot. That’s quite a feat for the plucky little bear, whose staying power puts Paddington 2 well ahead of the first film. There was comparatively little interest in the new releases. Wonder did reasonably well to bag fourth place, but the national appetite for treacly feelgoodness in the Season of Goodwill was clearly limited. Dickens biopic The Man Who Invented Christmas fared rather less well, with audiences a giving it a huge collective “Humbug!” On the superhero front, Justice League continues to fade, while Thor: Ragnarok is holding steady and has now become the eighth release of 2017 to breach the £30m barrier.
