There’s only the one story this week: Star Wars: The Last Jedi took £28m during its opening weekend, just pipping Beauty and the Beast to become the biggest opener of 2017. Mind you, it was showing in a record 708 cinemas. What’s more, its enormous haul is still behind that of The Force Awakens, which opened with £33.9m. All eyes will now be on the film’s performance over Christmas to see whether it can be judged a hit or a flop by inflated Star Wars standards. Everything else just shuffled down a place, with Daddy’s Home 2 breaking through the £10m barrier and Paddington 2 sailing past £30m
