It’s another of those weeks when there’s just the one story, as nobody wanted to go head-to-head with James Cameron’s Avatar sequel. The Way of Water enjoyed a strong £11.2m opening, putting it well ahead of the first film’s (non inflation-adjusted) £6.7m back in 2009. Everything else had to scrabble for the scraps, with the rest of the top five shuffling down a place. Those Christmas reissues at the foot of the chart were joined by the inevitable annual outing for It’s a Wonderful Life.
