It’s a second week at the top for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, with Disney animation Encanto climbing to number two. The biggest new release was André Rieu’s latest waltzfest, Christmas With André. He continues to hold the record for the UK’s most successful event cinema concert, easily eclipsing all those boy bands. But this one has fallen way short of that record, possibly because his more mature audience is still nervous about venturing back into cinemas. Further down the chart, Aml Ameen’s multicultural festive romcom Boxing Day opened just ahead of the umpteenth Resident Evil flick. The reboot Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has failed to drum up much enthusiasm even among hardcore fans of the poorly received video game adaptations and seems set to become the lowest grossing film in the long-running series.
