It seems that no matter how many expensive special effects you throw at them, today’s nippers really aren’t interested in Arthurian fantasy. The Kid Who Would Be King, the big kiddie film for half-term, has flopped rather embarrassingly and could only crawl into seventh place. The fickle young ‘uns continued to flock instead to The Lego Movie 2, which enjoyed a second week at the top, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Actually, ‘flock’ is probably the wrong term, as both animations are doing markedly less well than their franchise predecessors. The expensive Alita: Battle Angel is also struggling, but Fox won’t be too worried as this one is coining it internationally and opens in the now all-important Chinese market this week. At the foot of the chart, The Favourite makes a reappearance in anticipation of Sunday’s Oscar ceremony. What’s going to win? Well, the big cinema chains seem to be adding screenings of The Favourite, Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody from Monday onwards. Make of this what you will.
