Shitty weather over half-term is an opportunity for kidflicks to haul in serious quantities of loot. Sonic the Hedgehog was the clear favourite, and is now up to £14.6m in just two weeks. That’s a strong performance for a computer game adaptation. Dolittle climbed back into second place, while The Call of the Wild, featuring Harrison Ford and his CGI pooch, was the highest new entry. Sandwiched between them, Oscar winner Parasite remained the grown-up choice and is now well on the way to grabbing the record for a foreign language release at the UK box office. Still grabbing more than £1m in its seventh weekend on release, Sam Mendes’s 1917 continues its steady ascent of the all-time UK box office chart. Like a Boss was the big flop, taking little more than horror sequel Brahms: The Boy II. Just outside the top ten, Greed snaffled £369,000 – which is a record opening weekend for director Michael Winterbottom.
