Sam Mendes’ 1917 went over the top for a third successive week as it now looks forward to hauling gongs as well as loot across no man’s land. The Personal History of David Copperfield was the only new release to have any impact on the chart, entering in third place. Its distributors will no doubt be hoping that this one fares better than last week’s awards season releases Bombshell and Just Mercy, both of which tumbled out of the top ten after just seven days. Discerning, upmarket audiences are expressing a clear preference for Little Women (an impressive £1m during its fifth weekend on release) and Jojo Rabbit. At the foot of the chart, the tot pound propelled Paw Patrol: Ready, Race, Rescue into 10th place, which meant it was more popular than both of last weekend’s rival horror flicks: The Grudge and The Turning.
