The Suicide Squad was the clear winner of last weekend’s battle of the blockbusters, despite opening on rather less than recent hits Fast & Furious 9 and Black Widow. Since there’s generally room for only one comicbook adaptation in the chart, the latter suffered a big tumble from first to fifth place. But don’t write off Jungle Cruise just yet. The Disney flick’s kid appeal means that it could prove to be the bigger hit over the summer holidays. Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Croods 2: A New Age are both holding steady, and while DreamWorks’ Spirit Untamed isn’t exactly setting the box office on fire in sixth place, family animations remain the strongest performers. The target to beat remains the impressive £19m accumulated by Peter Rabbit 2 over 11 weeks.
