As expected, Fast & Furious 9 beat Tenet to become the biggest hit since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Its £6m haul despite severely limited audience capacity underlines just how well cinema is doing at the moment and bodes well for when restrictions are lifted. The preposterous petrolheads are likely to remain at the top for one more week before facing a serious challenge from Black Widow. Supernova was the second most successful new release, opening just ahead of Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds. Elsewhere, the only major movement in the chart was the abrupt decline of The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife, whose rapidly exhausted appeal saw it tumble from first to sixth place in its second week on release.
