Everyone went out to look at that big glowing orb in the sky at the weekend, which caused cinema admissions to plummet. There were four new releases in the top ten, none of which came close to dislodging The Batman, which itself recorded a drop of more than 50% in takings. Least distracted by the sun was the nerd audience who flocked to darkened rooms in droves to see Seong-Hu Park’s anime flick Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Catherine Tate’s big-screen spin-off The Nan Movie (that joke in full: old biddy swears a lot) bagged fourth place, ahead of the latest product of the Whimsical Britcom factory, The Phantom of the Open. Finally dropping out of the top ten after 14 weeks, Spider-Man: No Way Home continues its agonisingly slow crawl towards overtaking No Time To Die to secure third place in the UK all-time chart.
