The upmarket critics might have voiced their displeasure, but the public appetite for Keanu Reeves’ gun-toting antics as sharply dressed shooter John Wick seems stronger than ever. The fourth film opened well ahead of its immediate predecessor to achieve a franchise best box office result. Shazam! Fury of the Gods, meanwhile, followed the standard superhero flick trajectory by recording a massive 54% drop in takings during its second weekend on release, falling to second place. Interestingly, four of the top five films in this week’s chart are sequels. Outside the top ten, Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All At Once is now up to £6m.
