No surprises this week, as Disney sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever usurped rival superhero flick Black Adam. But the scale of Wakanda Forever‘s success was quite surprising. That £12.3m opening weekend easily eclipsed the £10.5m opening haul of the first Black Panther flick. It’s also ahead of Top Gun: Maverick, which opened on £11.2m. The question now is whether it will have the staying power to gain a place in the upper reaches of the all time UK box office chart. Most of the other films on release just slipped down a place or held steady, with Triangle of Sadness on the verge of hitting £1m as it cements its position as the arthouse champ of the moment.
