Justice League‘s £7m opening weekend might seem suitably super but it’s actually pretty puny by costumed avenger standards, only just crushing poor little Paddington in the multiplex stampede. It had some pretty stinky reviews, but these things are supposed to be critic-proof, with a core audience of undiscriminating nerds. Meanwhile, Paddington 2 dropped a mere 20% and has a clear run at those pocket money pounds until Ferdinand shows up on December 16. In the battle for the middlebrow quids, meanwhile, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool did reasonably well to open in sixth place. Further down the chart, the acclaimed The Florida Project continues to do a roaring trade on a limited number of screens. The weekend’s big loser was Ingrid Goes West, which took a meagre £78,000 and failed to chart.
