Napoleon, in which Ridley Scott battles a small army of aggrieved historians, conquered the UK box office with a £5.2m opening haul. Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes slipepd back into second place with a 50% drop in takings, but has still managed to hit £10m in just two weeks. Widely panned Disney animation Wish was the second new entry in the top five at number three. Cliff Richard’s attempt to bag some of the Taylor Swift concert film action with his Blue Sapphire Tour film proved reasonably successful among more mature audiences, bagging sixth place – though it’s still some way behind his previous 80th birthday concert. The 20th anniversary reissue of the godawful Love Actually scraped in to the foot of the chart, thanks to a reasonably successful campaign to persuade cinemagoers that it is, in fact, a Christmas classic.
