In a busy weekend for new releases, with five new films making the top ten, Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical was the clear winner, easily deposing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever after two weeks at the top. Rival family flick Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, meanwhile, was bumped all the way down to ninth place from last week’s number three. Strange World, Disney’s animated competitor for the kiddie pound, had to settle for third place, while Harvey Weinstein drama She Said hasn’t flopped as it did in the US and managed to make the top five, just ahead of well received cannibalism drama Bones and All. Christmas came early for Mark Gatiss as his new iteration of A Christmas Carol, filmed live at the Alexandra Palace theatre in London, landed at the foot of the chart and should continue to pull in punters over the coming weeks.
