Despite mixed reviews, Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci deposed Ghostbusters: Afterlife and is doing considerably better than the prolific octogenarian’s previous release, The Last Duel. The presence in the cast of, and much-acclaimed performance by, Lady Gaga is no doubt helping to drive punters into cinemas. Yet another Disney animation that’s not exactly scaling the heights of commercial success, Encanto had to settle for third place just as Ron’s Gone Wrong dropped out of the chart altogether. At number five, No Time To Die reached yet another milestone at the weekend, overtaking Spectre to become the second-highest grossing Bond film of all time. It’s unlikely to catch Skyfall, but that’s still a spectacular result for a film that was released in the middle of a global pandemic. Indeed, the number-crunchers have just calculated that, thanks mostly to Bond, UK cinemas enjoyed their best October since 2012.
