It was another quiet weekend at the UK box office as everyone stayed out in the sun. American Made enjoyed a second week at the top, with Dunkirk once again snapping at its heels. But the Tom Cruise vehicle suffered the indignity of scoring the lowest weekend total of a chart-topping film in nearly a decade. Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, meanwhile, continues to romp up the all-time UK chart. Over the last seven days, it jumped from 25th to 21st place and is rapidly closing on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to claim a place in the top 20. Of the new releases, only The Limehouse Golem managed to drum up much enthusiasm, reaching a lowly ninth place. Nobody seemed much interested in the portly lady rapper of Patti Cake$, which took just £120,000 nationwide. But at least this did better than Stratton, whose pitiful £27,000 opening weekend marked a new low for Con Air director Simon West.
