Bristol Bad Film Club bounces back with a penis-devouring ancient sex goddess

By Robin Askew  Monday Jul 4, 2022

As arresting opening scenes go, it’s hard to beat a South Seas Queen gobbling up some chap’s penis with her vagina. Luckily, another fella manages to snatch the snake lurking within, which he turns into a handy knife and stabs her. But not before she’s issued a bloodcurdling curse. A hundred years on, her spirit has possessed an annoying anthropology student, who takes delivery of the bloodthirsty fanny-serpent and embarks upon a Schwarzenegger-esque killing spree.

Something of a fave on the cult film circuit, Indonesian director H. Tjut Djalil’s shameless, low-budget 1988 Terminator rip-off, Lady Terminator (aka Nasty Hunter), boasts everything you could possibly crave from an enjoyably bad movie: terrible performances, gratuitous nudity, an authentically awful 80s synth-pop soundtrack and hilariously bad dubbed dialogue (“I am not a lady. I am an anthropologist!”). And you’ve gotta love that tagline: “She mates . . . then she terminates!”

All of which makes this a perfect selection for the Bristol Bad Film Club‘s first screening since May. (They haven’t been idle – they’ve just been busy with the Forbidden Worlds film Festival). Tickets are on sale now for the event, which takes place on Thursday 22 September at Bristol Improv Theatre. You’d be advised to grab yours pronto as each and every BBFC screening always sells out well in advance. Profits from this one go to the UN Refugee Agency.
