Bristol Film Festival launches nifty gift range
Like every festival, filmy or otherwise, the Bristol Film Festival has had a tough year. Its fifth birthday season of events across the city in March was postponed and subsequently cancelled. Now it seems unlikely that the festival will be back in action before Spring/Summer 2021.
To plug the gaping financial hole, festival director Owen Franklin and his team have come up with a range of imaginative gift packages that aim to at least partly recreate the festival experience in the Covid-secure comfort of your own home. Designed in association with local businesses such as Averys, with whom BFF has often partnered, these make perfect Christmas presents for the cinephile(s) in your life. The plan is to continue the gift range once the pandemic is over (TBC) as a parallel festival venture. All the gifts are available from the Bristol Film Festival shop. Eyes down for the full selection.
So You Think You Know… quiz sets
is needed now More than ever
A selection of bespoke quizzes, each packaged in a tin box. These comprise 100 questions about your chosen film, ranging from The Good (easy) through The Bad (challenging) to The Ugly (fiendishly difficult). Select from Titanic, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Greatest Showman, The Silence of the Lambs, Notting Hill and Casablanca. There’s also a Festival Collection containing Titanic, Notting Hill, The Greatest Showman and Casablanca.
Gift Sets
As above, but with a pair of glasses from which to imbibe one or more themed drink suggestions pairing with your chosen film. Cocktail recipes, a wine tasting guide, suggested food pairings and facts about the film are also included.
The Film Night Companion
This includes the same film quiz selection, with the addition of The Shining. You can customise and personalise your companion to include booze, snacks and a DVD of your chosen film.
The Home Wine Tasting Kit
Now we’re talking! In the spirit of the festival’s regularly sold-out vintage screenings and boozathons in Averys’ historic wine cellars, this premium gift supplies enough complementary alcohol for a Covid-compliant party of six, with tasting notes. The kits come in two tiers – the standard ‘Festival’ or more adventurous ‘Discovery’ selection. In addition to most of the films listed above, Sideways is available (obviously), as are A Room with a View and What We Do in the Shadows.
