Christmas comes early to Showcase cinemas

You may be forgiven for feeling a certain amount of confusion over being exhorted to simultaneously (a) do your bit to help save the planet ahead of the COP26 UN climate change conference, and (b) indulge in a consumerist frenzy to stockpile tat ahead of Christmas. But one thing’s for sure: there’ll be no supply chain difficulties when it comes to classic festive movies.

Indeed, Christmas is literally coming early at the Showcase chain’s Bristol cinemas in Avonmeads and Cabot Circus. On Saturday 23 October, a full two months before the big day, they’re screening The Polar Express, Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life and Elf. Should you feel so inclined, you can even watch all four in a epic festive marathon. Admission is pegged at £5 per film. Mince pies are presumably optional.
