Creative lockdown: CC Animation Studio
CC Animation Studio is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.
An animation company that has worked with organisations including the BBC, Dementia UK and NHS, has produced a coronavirus-themed animation.
The animation, which illustrates the poem An Imagine Letter from Covid-19 to Humans by Kristen Flyntz, was created by CC Animation Studio, to encourage people to slow down and reflect.
is needed now More than ever
“When coronavirus was first starting to hit the headlines, we began to wonder what we, as creatives, could do to help,” says Charlie Harding, who works at CC Animation Studio, whose usual offices are in St Phillip’s Marsh.
“We noticed that there was a really lovely poem being shared around WhatsApp groups and Messenger, that took the form of a letter from the virus.”
An Imagined Letter from Covid-19 to Humans “really struck a chord” with the team at CC Animation Studio, who got in touch with the author through LinkedIn. Kristen Flyntz then recorded the poem and Tom Barter, the company’s editor, created the animation for the poem.
“We gave him the opportunity to have a free reign and use whatever images he felt inspired to create in response,” Charlie says. “And that, with some additional ideas from Kristen herself, is what has come together to become this animation.
“This is a project that was created by people sitting isolated in their houses, thousands of miles apart but we hope that it will serve to bring people together, behind a common message.”
