Creative lockdown: Studio Giggle
Studio Giggle is part of the ongoing Bristol24/7 Creative Lockdown series, showcasing how people in Bristol have been getting arty under lockdown.
Paintworks-based film and animation studio Studio Giggle have created a video in response to isolation in lockdown.
The film follows two characters as they experience the five stages of grief, inspired by a news article that the Studio Giggle managing and creative director, Jonathan Brigden read. The film was made entirely in isolation, with the whole team finding new ways to work collaboratively.
is needed now More than ever
The film follows two characters as they leave each other before lockdown and their moods and colours change throughout the film as they try to keep busy.
They both experience denial, bargaining, anger and depression before one character communicates through the internet and companionship resumes.
The characters then exercise together, chat and dance together. The film finishes with the lockdown ending and the two meeting again.
The concept of the film was already taking place when the Queen addressed the nation on the April 5.
“The Queen’s speech moved me, and it felt like the comforting leadership we are all craving,” says Jonathan. “It was so perfectly written and phrased it seemed like a fitting ending to our little piece.”
“It all just seemed to come together,” adds Ed Vosper, one of the company’s visual artists. “The story, the creation and the music was there waiting for us.”
