Thousands of discounted tickets offered in Culture Flash Sale

By Cameron Scheijde  Wednesday Jan 17, 2018

A discount cultural ticket sale organised by Bristol and Bath Cultural Destinations, Visit Bristol and Visit Bath will take place on Thursday, January 18 2018.

The sale sees tickets for many of Bristol’s most popular cultural venues and festivals discounted by between 20 and 50 per cent. Venues offering discounted tickets include Bristol Cathedral, St Georges Bristol , Watershed, Colston Hall, M Shed, We the Curious, Bristol Old Vic and Tobacco Factory Theatres. WOMAD festival and Bristol International Jazz and Blues Festival are also offering discounted tickets.

The initiative is now in its third year following approval from Bristol and Bath’s cultural venues and the Cultural Destination project. The sale comes just after a New York Times article naming Bristol as one of the top destinations to visit in 2018 and dubbing it a ‘cultural powerhouse’.

Some shows at the Bristol Old Vic are included in the initiative

Some of the best deals include 25 per cent off selected shows at Colston Hall and The Lantern, 20 per cent off Bristol Old Vic’s productions of The Cherry Orchard and A Monster Calls, 25 per cent off selected films at Watershed, and 50 per cent off tickets to selected exhibitions at The Architecture Centre and We the Curious.

Head of tourism at Destination Bristol, Kathryn Davis, said: “With more than 100 different offers from across the cultural landscape, including some genuinely world class performances, this is a great opportunity to snap up a festival, music, cinema or exhibition bargain helping save money on a day out or the basis of a break with friends or family.”

Martin Pople, project manager for Bristol and Bath Cultural Destinations, said he was pleased to see the January Flash Sale becoming a regular date in the region’s calendar. “It’s a splendid example of the benefits of working in collaboration rather than competition to give residents and visitors a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the rich diversity of the region’s cultural offer,” he said.

The sale will open at 10am on Thursday January 18 2018. For more details, visit www.visitbristol.co.uk and the venues’ own websites. You can also follow the sale on Twitter using the hashtag #CultureFlashSale.
