Defiant FilmBath Festival is rescheduled to December
This autumn, every local film festival (Afrika Eye, Queer Vision, Encounters, Wildscreen, etc) migrated online. Except one. Back in September, FilmBath – formerly the Bath Film Festival – took the brave decision to go ahead with its annual November blowout as planned, albeit with suitable hygiene and social distancing measures in place. All screenings were relocated to airy Green Park Station.
Then came Lockdown 2. Did they give up? They did not. The whole shebang has now been pushed back a month to run from December 11-16. Highlights include the award-winning Nomadland with Frances McDormand, gay love story Supernova, Thomas Vinterberg’s satirical comedy Another Round and acclaimed Texan drama Miss Juneteeth (pictured above). You can browse the full programme online here. Grab those tickets fast, mind, because screenings are already beginning to sell out.
In addition, FilmBath is part of the virtual Amplify! film festival, which runs until November 22. In collaboration with CINECITY (Brighton) and the Cambridge and Cornwall Film Festivals, they’ve come up with an impressive selection of online screenings and events that can be beamed directly into your sitting room for a modest fee. Amplify! is also helping to support Bristol’s very own Slapstick festival. Use the code LoveBath for a 10% discount on anything. As an added bonus, Slapstick receives 10% of the price of any tickets purchased using the code. It’s a win-win!
is needed now More than ever
