Dementia-friendly film screenings return to the Little Theatre
Bath’s Little Theatre Cinema has always been ahead of the pack when it comes to catering for cinemagoers with different needs.
The venue runs autism-friendly screenings on the third Sunday of every month, there are Big Scream screenings for parents with noisy toddlers every Wednesday, and the cinema made headlines with its introduction of dog-friendly screenings for our canine companions.
In 2015, the Little launched a series of screenings for people with dementia. Complimentary tea and coffee is served, there are no adverts, the lights are left on low, and cinemagoers are free to move around and take a break whenever they want to. The programme comprises classics, with a particular emphasis on musicals.

“Do I look like a hatstand to you, chummy?”
Now the dementia-friendly screenings are back, starting on May 2 with the 70th anniversary return of Singin’ in the Rain. Doors open at 10:30am, carers are admitted free and admission is £4. Go here to book tickets. The plan is to run the screenings on the first Monday of every month from then on.
