Farmer’s Llamas sneak peek unveiled
It’s official – Shaun the Sheep‘s first ever half-hour TV special, The Farmer’s Llamas, will be broadcast on BBC1 on Boxing Day at 6:15pm. And Aardman have just released an official trailer.
Here’s the synopsis:
is needed now More than ever
When the Farmer and Bitzer go to a Country Fair, Shaun steals away with them intent on causing mischief. Shaun spies an auction where he sees three exotic and very crafty Llamas going under the hammer.
Instantly besotted by their fantastic pranks Shaun cleverly gets the unwitting Farmer to buy them. Back at Mossy Bottom Farm, Shaun is delighted with his prank and convinces the Flock that the Llamas are just what they need to spice up their lives.
At first everything’s great fun, but soon their new Llama room-mates get a bit too comfortable in their new home. When things spiral out of control, Shaun is forced to take action to oust the intruders and save the farm.
In keeping with Shaun’s global popularity, the special will also be screened on TV in Australia, France and Germany over Christmas and New Year. It’s already available on Amazon Prime in America.
This caps a hugely successful year for the little ovine fella on the big and small screen. Trade paper Variety reports that the Shaun the Sheep Movie, which was released in February, has now taken more than $100m worldwide, having opened in 70 countries. Only the USA seemed strangely resistant to Shaun’s charms. Nonetheless, the film made a huge profit on its relatively modest production cost of $25m and a sequel is now officially on the way.
If you can’t get enough Shaun, you may like to know that Marcus Brigstocke is teaming up with writer/director duo Richard Starzak and Mark Burton for a special event at next month’s Slapstick Festival. This takes place at St George’s on Sat 23 Jan at 12.30pm.
