Film and Food Fest comes to the Downs in August

Outdoor cinema specialists Adventure Cinema are bringing their new Film and Food Fest to the Downs as part of a 15 date UK tour. The four-day event runs from August 5-8 and kicks off with an evening of short films by independent regional filmmakers, with £2 from every ticket sold going to support local film organisations. The features being shown in Bristol range from familiar favourites (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease) to newer releases (Jojo Rabbit, Sonic the Hedgehog).

Street food from local traders is ‘curated’ by the Street Food Warehouse, and includes everything from gourmet burgers and bruschetta to crepes and caramel ice-cream, along with a dedicated bar serving beers and bespoke cocktails. The evening screenings will be preceded by live performances from some of the UK’s as-yet-undisclosed “most exciting comedians”.

Tickets start at £16.50 (plus inevitable booking fee), though there are half-price tickets for kids attending the afternoon events. For piece of mind, the whole thing is being billed as “socially spacious” and “100-per-cent compliant with government safety guidelines”. There’s also a full money-back guarantee in case it transpires that Boris has over-promised again.

Local filmmakers who want to submit their work for consideration for the local film night should email info@filmandfoodfest.com.
