First official clip from new David Attenborough film released

By Lowie Trevena  Thursday Aug 20, 2020

A collaboration between Silverback Films and WWF, David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet will be released in cinemas on Monday, September 28, before releasing globally on Netflix in the autumn.

Ahead of the film’s release, Bristol-based Silverback Films has released a new clip from the show.

Silverback, one of the biggest companies in Bristol’s natural history filmmaking world, have joined forces with the video-streaming giant and environmental organisation WWF as Attenborough reflects upon both the defining moments of his lifetime as a naturalist and the devastating changes he has seen.

Over the past few years, the naturalist has become increasingly outspoken on climate change and humanity’s impact on the planet.

Silverback have already worked with Attenborough on the Netflix series Our Planet, which reached 100 million viewers in its first month.

Silverback director and producer Jonnie Hughes says that Attenborough’s latest production is “the most important film I’ve ever been involved with”, with the feature looking at the 94-year-old’s life and his perspective on the climate crisis.

David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet is a powerful first-hand account of humanity’s impact on nature and a message of hope for future generations.

In the new clip, a young Attenborough explores the expansive and untouched wilderness of the planet as he documents the wonders of the natural world for viewers in the UK.

Described as “honest, revealing and urgent”, the film will premiere in select cinemas across the world and will include an exclusive conversation between Sir David Attenborough and Sir Michael Palin.

The film will be released on Netflix later in 2020.
